I have been using a rice cooker for years, and it always makes perfect rice that does not have to be watched or monitored at all. There are many models of electric rice cookers. The most convenient and popular size is the five-cup rice cooker. If you have a large family or need to cook lots of rice, though, you might want to consider the eight-cup size. In general, all rice cookers perform equally well; some newer models have special features that are nice but not imperative. My twenty-old Hitachi basic model is still used every day and has never missed a beat! 2 cups long-grain rice Wash the rice 3 or 4 times in plenty of cold water in a bowl or the inner cooking pot of the electric rice cooker. Tip the bowl or pot to drain as much water as possible without spilling the rice or drain in a strainer. Add the water, cover, and follow the manufacturer’s directions. In my electric cooker, 2 cups of rice cook in about 20 minutes.
